Os EUA à beira do seu Armagedão político e financeiro?

Tudo indica que sim, e que as posições extremadas de um Partido Republicano (GOP) que se refugiou no mapa dos revoltosos do tempo da Guerra Civil, têm como principal objectivo a demissão de Obama e de tudo o que ele representa de coesão nacional e de relançamento da economia. Quando é que nós, portugueses já vimos isto? A chantagem na queda do lider nacional a troco de um PEC? Qualquer PEC? Mesmo dum PEC que arrase tardiamente a própria economia e a sobrevivência financeira do mundo tal como o conhecemos? Tudo em nome de desconfianças pessoais e de tentativas de assassinato político tão cego e tão mesquinho que vai da cor da pele ao local do nascimento?
De facto a recusa de qualquer acordo com Obama àcerca do desbloqueamento do impasse a que se chegou quanto à dívida pública, está a colocar a União à beira de um ataque de nervos e a obrigar Obama a fazer apelos dramáticos às populações mais pobres e mais afectadas pela política do Tea Party, os ultras do GOP, por coincidência, os habitantes dos Estados que mais se assemelham aos revoltosos do Sul racista, petrolífero e algodoeiro, que se rebelem contra os seus "representantes" e os obriguem a comprometer-se com qualquer solução; Diz Andrew Sullivan no seu:

With no ability to communicate within the Democratic party to bring the South and the rest of the country together, we have stalemate. And so the whole promise of post-partisan Obama founders on the determination of one faction to bring him down, regardless of the costs - even to themselves. I have not yet seen Obama so perfectly forced into Lincoln's position: trying desperately to accommodate a force that refuses to be accommodated, except by dictating the national outcome of every debate. But their rage will not be assuaged by appeasement. Any deal with this president will be seen as a betrayal by the Tea Party faction. Hence the agony of John Boehner. Hence the need to cut the president out of any resolution."
